Music & Memory (M&M)

Music & Memory at Baylor University is an organization dedicated to forging a community and advocating for personalized music therapy in the lives of local memory care patients. Music therapy can improve the quality of life for patients with memory-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia by reducing common mood disorders such as depression and agitation. This organization integrates music and medicine in a unique way to raise awareness for the utilization of holistic medicine.

By educating through service, Music & Memory offers students opportunities to engage with memory care residents at Living Springs Village (LSV). Members of Music & Memory participate in music performances, resident mixers, and other events designed to facilitate meaningful connections between students and residents. Music & Memory also hosts on-campus events, including socials, seminars, and a speaker series with experts in the field of memory care. In addition, Music & Memory raises awareness for memory disease in the Waco community by participating in the annual national Walk to End Alzheimer’s charity event.
