As a Hillis Scholar, I have found a community that I look forward to meeting with weekly over Family Dinners and exceptional mentorship from faculty supporters. It is reassuring to know that I have guidance during my time at Baylor, and the opportunities through speaker events, shadowing, and research provided to Hillis Scholars is unlike any other program that I've been a part of! I am thankful that Hillis Scholars is leading me toward a meaningful life and shaping me as a student, leader, person, and future healthcare professional!

To put it simply, my time as a Hillis Scholar has been fun! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed developing relationships with other scholars as well as Dr. Matthews. Additionally, through the Hillis Scholars Program, I have been able to make connections with practicing physicians and have been introduced to a wide variety of academic opportunities.

Professionally, the Hillis Scholars program has refined my passion for medicine through impactful speaker events with local physicians and the opportunity for one-on-one physician mentorship. Personally, this program has provided me with an intentional community that I enjoy spending time with during our weekly Family Dinners at various restaurants in Waco.

The Hillis Scholars family has uplifted me in my pre-medicine journey in numerous ways!
