Why Baylor?
There are currently 16 Prehealth Student organizations, including orgs like Medical Ethics Discussion Society and Medical Service Organization. Each of these organizations provides a unique community to prepare for a prehealth career, provide leadership opportunities, and engage with other students.
The Science and Health Living-Learning Center is a specialized dorm to immerse students in a pre-health and life science experience that concretely and innovatively connects them with the science faculty and medical professionals, interests, and curriculum of Baylor University.
Freshman prehealth students will take a student-taught Foundations in Medicine course where older prehealth students can show you the ropes built into the program. Later, you can become a Prehealth Mentor and lead freshman Prehealth students.
The Office of PreHealth Studies is committed to helping medical focused undergraduate students prepare for medical and health professions. As we connect students with research opportunities and internships, we help them gain exceptional learning experiences for their future.
The prehealth student community at Baylor thrives on a culture of encouragement and collaboration, where students support one another in their academic pursuits. This extends beyond academics, where students support their peers' achievements and mutually support each other through challenges.
Baylor's faculty actively engage with students both inside and outside the classroom, offering guidance, mentorship, and personalized attention to ensure each student's academic journey is met with encouragement and assistance. Baylor's faculty not only impart knowledge but support students every step of the way.
The Baylor Science Building was designed to create a connection between the traditional science departments, to encourage an interactive science community and to support multidisciplinary collaborations in research and teaching.
Baylor offers Freshman research experiences through research courses in topics like medicine, biology, laparoscopy, and more. Many Sophomores join a laboratory here on campus, prepared by the research experiences in these courses.
