Baylor Bridges
Connecting Baylor Alumni in Medicine to the Prehealth Student Community
Mission
The Baylor Bridges program connects Baylor alumni healthcare professionals with current prehealth students to build a community focused on advancing and enhancing education via research, leadership, service, and mentorship.
Pillars of the Baylor Bridges
Scholarship and Research
- Undergraduate research teams participating in clinical research under the supervision of alumni mentorship.
- Additional opportunities for alumni to participate in a research discussion panel.
Mentorship
- Alumni lecture on their medical specialty or other special topics relating to their practice.
- Bear Tracks Shadowing Program: Local Waco Alumni hosting an undergraduate to shadow 40 hours over a semester. Participating undergraduates complete a co-requisite curriculum.
Leadership
- Guest Faculty Leadership Readings Course: Alumni invited to host one class discussion over formative literature on issues pertinent to the US Healthcare system.
Global Health
- Mentor a Global Health Fellow: Fellows work under alumni to conduct a year-long research project on issues in Global Health such as tropical diseases, anthropology, health inequity, and vaccine distribution.
Professional Development
- Alumni medical students and providers discuss with prehealth sophomores through lectures and discussions how to utilize their undergraduate careers to develop core competencies required for a successful medical career.
