PHP 2101: Foundation Medical Research Course
The Foundation Medical Research Course aims to empower undergraduate students by providing them with the necessary skills and opportunities to undertake their own research projects. It emphasizes the broad spectrum of research avenues available to pre-health students, advocating for exploration beyond traditional basic science research - into interdisciplinary research that interest them including business/health equity, medical humanities, public health, etc.
Students are placed within groups of 3-4 students with similar research interests and paired with a Research Scholar and Alumni Mentor to conduct a research analysis or study. The course culminates into a Research Poster presented at the end of the semester or an IRB proposal with the potential to extend on beyond the course in a PHP V9R course.
